JAI#124 - Colour Challenge

One of my favourite tools from Stampin' Up! is the Colour Coach and this week I suggested for our Just Add Ink challenge the colour combination to be one from there, it is called a Sweet Set and is found on the Wild Wasabi card. The colours are Wild Wasabi of course, teamed up with beautiful Marina Mist and my all-time favourite Early Espresso (taking over from my love of Chocolate Chip!).
I always know when I like something to use as inspiration for a card because the card I usually create becomes one of my favourites, as this one will be...

I think this Field Flowers stamp set lends itself to so many bold colour ways and beautiful flowers. Lately, I have found myself adding some details to the inside of my cards, which is something I do rarely, and for this one I think just adds to why I like it so much.

The Just Add Ink girls have some great ideas to inspire you with this colour combo, so pop on over to the challenge blog and have some fun stamping and creating too! I would love to see what you come up with.

Thanks for stopping by and as usual have a great weekend, it will be my last really relaxing one for a while!

Commissioned card

I just wanted to quickly pop in to my blog tonight and share with you a card that I was commissioned to make for a work colleague who needed a baby card and wanted it personalised with the child's name. It was a baby girl and of course she wanted it to be girlie and pretty so this is what I came up with...

I was happy with the result but I am yet to know if Kate is because she was away sick today...I hope it is nothing catching as we will both need to by 100% as next week begins the tax season and that is what we do working with H&R Block. For this reason my posts may be irregular and/or scheduled in advance when I find the time to upload what I have created in my 'downtime' over the next few months when I will be working full-time...this may be a shock to the system as I haven't done that for a couple of years now.

The above photo on the left shows a sneak of something in the inside but unfortunately as I am not a very good photographer the inside did not photograph so well....I think it was because the card was a soft Pink Pirouette and the little booties mainly white, so the focus for my autofocus ("point and click"), was off! If anyone has suggestions on how to fix this I would greatly take advice and helpful instruction.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to pop back on Friday when my next DT submission will be uploaded for viewing and inspiring you to join in with our weekly challenges at Just Add Ink. Sneak peak below...

JAI#122 - Just Add...Delys Cram!

As the post title announces, this week at Just Add Ink we are CASEing another of our Design Team members and this time it is the very talented and lovely Delys Cram! I had the pleasure of meeting Delys in person at last year's Stampin' Up! Convention and was so disappointed that I didn't get to share the experience with her again this year. Delys and I had a lot of things in common and we would often order the same things or say almost the same things at the same time, without realising it, so much that she nicknamed me 'twinnie'.

I love Delys' scrapbooking layouts as much as her other papercrating projects that I decided that was what I was going to do this week when CASEing her. It was hard to pick a favourite as I liked a number of her ideas, such as her one photo focus, her strips of journalling and I especially loved the layout she did recently of her husband 'you mean the world to me', which was the one I nearly did a CASE of...maybe another time!

Anyway, click here to see Delys' layout that I did end up CASEing and here is mine...

This photo was taken a few years ago when celebrating at my late aunt's birthday and we realised all the generation of 'Huisman' men were there, so we needed to capture the moment.

Here are a couple of close-ups of my journalling and page title...

You have to go check out Delys' blog as you will find lots to inspire you and then CASE a project of hers and join us at Just Add Ink this week by linking it up there.

JAI DT Birthdays

I try to send birthday cards to those special people in my lives, when I remember their birthdays and can get them in the post in time! Well recently two of the JAI DT have celebrated their birthdays, Chantell back in May and Delys today (happy birthday!), and I actually got their birthday cards to them in time for their special days.

Here is the one I made for Chantell, trying out my new Edgelit Dies...

I even managed to decorate the inside, which I don't do very often...

This is the one I sent to Delys and I can post it here as she has already told me that she has received it in NZ. For this one I made it quickly the morning I needed to get it in the post and so decided to look on Pinterest to see what Delys had pinned there that she liked and I saw a vellum flower that she liked, so I took that idea to use on my card. I then found this card by Amy White pinned on Nikki Spencer's board and as I liked the layout I used it and some elements on my card as well. Knowing that one of Delys' favourite colours is red I used that for my ribbon and feature colour...and this is the result...

I was quite pleased with how it turned out and I hope Delys really liked it. I also recalled the technique that Carolyn Rakowski showed us at Stampin' Up! Regionals in Hobart last September, stamping French Foliage leaves with Cajun Craze onto Wild Wasabi cardstock, they look so realistic and added a bit more dimension to the vellum flower. (I didn't actually decorate the inside of Delys' card just added my message.)

Now it is time for me to go an create in my craft room as I have the house to myself and I can do what I like! So hopefully in the next few days I might have some more items to share with you or I might get ahead a little with my JAI commitments!

Cya! Thanks for stopping by.

JAI#121 - Just Add Pearls!

I was updating this week's Just Add Ink post to include one of the DT entries for this week's challenge and suddenly realised that the cards I made as a swap with the JAI DT, as part of the Stampin' Up! Convention excitement, also fitted this week's challenge...so as an administrator of the blog I had the power to also include mine, which I did! This wasn't my week to design but as I had these card photographed and was intending to blog post them I thought why not!

As usual I find it hard to make multiple cards of the one design, so I simply adjusted it colour-wise and made three different colour options. These cards were bounced off an earlier card I made in this post here, that was originally inspired by Sandi MacIver.

Here they are together...

Now here they are individually and with a couple of close-ups of the beautiful butterflies that I really enjoyed making!

A group shot...

The Design Team have created some gorgeous and varied cards to inspire you, so pop on over to Just Add Ink and hopefully they will encourage you to create a project using pearls, and that you share it with us as I love checking out the gallery of submissions each week!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your lovely comments (if you feel so inclined) and most of all have an enjoyable weekend.

JAI#120 - Inspiration Photo

A little while between posts because I went away last weekend, visiting Gary's mum and family, plus some of mine who live in Victoria, and it was a lovely time together, catching up, seeing a new great nephew and taking over some more of his mum's belongings that were stored in our shed.

This weekend I wish I wasn't here as well, I am wishing that I was in Canberra, where Stampin' Up! are holding their annual Convention and to which many of the Just Add Ink girls have gone to! I so wish I was there with them having fun and getting lots of great ideas and new goodies! Last year was my very first SU! Convention and I got to meet a lot of the JAI girls face-to-face and it was like we had known each other for years...Delys and I clicked so much and shared similar likes that she called me 'twinnie'! It was also great to share my love of SU! products with so many like-minded demonstrators...however, I made the choice this year to upgrade my craft space (so my Convention savings were spent!) and that space will last me a long time...there is always next year!

Anyway on to this week's Just Add Ink Challenge and it is an inspirational photo provided by Jodene Tripp... so use it to provide inspiration for your project whether it be the colours, elements within the photo or its layout... whatever takes your eye! Here is the photo...

Here is my card, taking inspiration from the lavender colour (then using the Color Coach to pick a colour combo based around Wisteria Wonder - teamed up with Lucky Limeade and  Elegant Eggplant), the boxes (I therefore used the Designer Frames Embossing Folder) and of course the panelled wall (I used the Stripes Embossing Folder to replicate this)...

Stamps: Fresh Vintage (SAB), You Are Loved, Perfect Punches
Inks: Elegant Eggplant
Cardstock: Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White
Accessories: Stampin' Write Markers (Lucky Limeade, Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder), Big Shot, Stripes Embossing Folder, Designer Frames Embossing Folder, Modern Label Punch, Seam Binding Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive

I was quite happy with the result and also had an opportunity to try out a technique of spraying hairspray onto Seam Binding Ribbon to help it hold its scrunched up appearance.

Pop on over to the Just Add Ink blog as some of the other Design Team members have also created cards using various elements of the photo above for inspiration, and then join in the fun and link up your project.

Have a lovely weekend and thanks for stopping by!
